Stephy in Wonderland - Take 1

I thought I'd post a step by step instead of showing the final product all the time. This peice is a gift for a friend, I'm drawing her as Alice.

Here is stage 1, drawn in col-erase. I generally prefer to use red, but I couldn't find my pencil so finished in blue:



This is very rough, the red is jut me getting my initial ideas down, and the blue is slightly more detail and getting proportions right.

Mostly I'll draw straight over this with my mechanical pencil, but for more polished peices I trace over this with tracing paper to transfer it a better peice of paper. I do this as col-erase doesn't actually erase very well. Here's the pencil work after its been transfered to different paper and you can see I've added a heck of a lot more detail:
